A.Cấu trúc của There is/There are:
Thể khẳng định:
There is/There are + Danh từ số ít/Danh từ số nhiều + Trạng
ngữ (nếu có)
(There’s/There’re)
Vd:
+There is a table.
+there are are two car.
Thể phủ định:
There is/There are +NOT+Danh từ số ít/Danh từ số nhiều + Trạng
ngữ (nếu có)
(There isn’t/There aren’t)
Vd:
+There is not a table in the room.
+There are not two car in the street.
Thể nghi vấn:
Is there/Are there+Danh từ số ít/Danh từ số nhiều+Trạng ngữ
(nếu có) ?
Vd:
+Is there a hat in the table?
+Are there any eggs in the
kitchen?
Câu trả lời Yes/No cho cấu trúc
này:
+Yes,there is/there are.
+No,there is not/there are
not.
B.Phân biệt There
is và There are.
1.Khi nói đến sự
hiện diện của cái gì, chúng ta thường bắt đầu câu bằng There+be và đặt chủ ngữ
sau Be.

There is a
bank in West Street.(Chúng ta không nói :A
bank is in West Street)
Có một ngân hàng trên đường West Street
Chúng ta dùng cấu trúc này với những chủ ngữ bất định (ví dụ:
a man một người đàn ông, some letters vài lá thư, anybody bất kỳ người nào.)

There’s a
man at the door –có một người đàn ông đứng ở cửa.
·
There are
some letters for you-Có vài lá thư cho anh.
·
“Is there
anybody at home?” “No, there
isn’t.”-“có ai ở nhà không?” “Không, không có ai cả”.
2.Chúng ta có thể dùng cấu trúc này với những hình thức khác
của be, ví dụ:
·
There is a bank in West Street.(present tense)-Có một
ngân hàng ở đường West Street.(Thì hiện tại đơn).
·
There was
a telephone call for you last night.(past tense)-Tối qua có một cuộc điện
thoại gọi cho anh.(thì quá khứ đơn).
·
There has
been an accident.(Present perfect)-Vừa có một tai nạn.(Thì hiệ tại hoàn thành)
·
There
will be a lot of people at the party .(will form)-Sẽ có nhiều người ở buổi
tiệc.(hình thức will)
Chú ý:Nếu chủ ngữ ở số nhiều thì be cũng ở số nhiều so sánh:

There ‘s a man at the door .
·
There are
some men at the door.
·
There was
a telephone call for you last night.
·
There
were two telephonecalls for youlast night.
·
There has
been an accident.
·
There
have been a lot of accidents
recently.
3.So sánh There is/are và it is/they are
Chúng ta dùng There+be để nói về vật hiện hữu .Chúng ta dùng
đại từ nhân xưng ví dụ:it,they+be (hoặc động từ khác) để cung cấp nhiều chi tiết
hơn.

There’s a letters for you .It’s from Australia-Bạn có thư đấy.Từ Úc gửi về.
·
“There’s a
man at the door.” “It’s Mr Davis.”-Có
một người đàn ông đang đứng ở cửa.Đó là ông Davis
